Storm Damage Insurance Appraisals – FAQ

What is a storm damage insurance appraisal?

A: It's an independent assessment of the damage to your property caused by a storm (hail, wind, lightning, flooding, etc.). This appraisal is used to determine the value of the loss and ensure you receive a fair insurance payout.

When should I request an appraisal?

A: You should request an appraisal if your insurance company’s settlement offer seems too low or if there’s a dispute about the extent of the storm damage.

What types of storm damage do you assess?

A: We assess damage from hail, wind, hurricanes, tornadoes, heavy rain, flooding (in some cases), lightning, and falling debris. Both residential and commercial properties are covered.

Do I need to involve my insurance company to get an appraisal?

A: No, you can hire an independent appraiser yourself. If you're in an active claim dispute, the appraisal process is often a formal step allowed in your policy’s terms.

How long does the appraisal process take?

A: After we get response from the carrier, most appraisals are completed within 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the extent of the damage and the availability of documentation.

What happens after the appraisal is completed?

A: A detailed report is submitted to both you and the insurance company. If you're in the formal appraisal phase of a dispute, the outcome is binding, and the insurer must pay the agreed amount.

How much does a storm damage appraisal cost?

A: Costs vary depending on the size and complexity of the property but are usually a flat fee for most residential claims.

How many years past the original date of loss am I allowed to request appraisal on my claim?

A: Most states and most policies will accept appraisal up to 2 yrs past the date of loss. Each policy needs reviewed to verify, however 2 yrs is standard.

What makes your appraisal service different?

A: We are an impartial and experience group with many years of storm-related insurance claims, both residencial and commercial. We wont just sit behind a desk states away and negotiate just to say we did our job. Our focus is local support with communicaiton and transparency. Combined with a streamlined approach we improve claim outcomes for our clients.
